I obviously spend a load of time on the computer too. Here’s a summary of what I’ve been looking at.

Spotify

This is a music platform similar to iTunes, and you can import files from your old library or elsewhere:

It only plays DRM free songs (logically) and it’s ad-supported. The ads let you browse their online library for free though, so that’s pretty great. Personally I’m still using iTunes for most listening, but it has a feature that I don’t see many other places and that’s music sharing.

Not just any music sharing, but extremely easy and fast sharing. I can right-click on a track and tweet a link to it or post it on my Facebook. Unfortunately the link is only accessible to people who have the program and since it’s only a European thing (for now), I don’t have many people to share with.

The best best BEST part is when you click and send it to a friend. Because it integrates with Facebook, Spotify lists all the people on Facebook that you’re friends with who have this program. Then when they open the program they’ll see a little update in their “inbox.” It’s an inbox purely for music. Awesome for sharing new stuff.

If I had a pro account (which I won’t get, because hey this is the internet, who said anything about paying for things?) then I could sync it with my no-longer-existent iPhone. I could listen to all my music and other people’s music anywhere with internet and not take up space on the phone. A decent idea, and a fair offer for people who spend money online.

Well, I have been enjoying this light Air App on my laptop for skimming the NYTimes.

After that last post, which was heavily leftist, I feel like I should point out that I believe there is something to be said for conservatism or the Republican party. I think that party association also depends heavily on your view of the nation. For example, I think of the main idea of being a republican as putting responsibility in the hands of the citizens. Sure that sounds splendid, but I am not a republican because I do not want the responsibility of public wellbeing in the hands of people. In my short 23 years I have been presented with an America of the incompetent. Until something happens to demonstrate the general public as a highly competent body for orchestrating public services (more competent than educated politicians), I will remain a democrat. As you can tell from the last post, my view of politicians is decreasing lately… yet, simultaneous phenomena such as the “tea party” are keeping me a democrat.

What follows is a presentation given by David Cameron, the leader of Britain’s Conservative party. A lot of his points I agree with. Greater government transparency and an enabled (as long as informed) public could be a good thing. Take a watch!

I obviously had too much time on my hands today. I made dice, made a box for the dice, made a video, and then spent about three hours editing the video with subtitles because I thought the audio was too quiet.

I’m not really into dressing up. I think the last time I actually did was about three years ago. The random accessory strategy seems to work alright for impromptu costumes though. My room-mate lent me a cowboy hat, half an hour before going out.
